Matthew Winstanley is a Melbourne potter who enjoys making functional ceramics at his Alphington studio. His passion for pottery comes from an appreciation of unusual clay surfaces and the orbit of the pottery wheel. Matthew spent the year 2020 living in Wellington, New Zealand, where he was a member of the Wellington Potters’ Association and he participated in a traditional Japanese firing technique using a wood-fired kiln, known as an ‘Anagama Kiln’. He has shown his works across Australia and sells his work locally.
